Gang Leader Suspected of Swedish Crimes Detained in Mexico

Two men who are in Mexico have been detained in their absence. One of them is believed to be a gang leader who has controlled a Swedish gang from abroad in recent years. We clearly hope that they will be extradited, says prosecutor Ida Arnell.

The two men are suspected of having been involved in several serious violent crimes in the summer of 2024.

We assess that this has been committed in a network context. It appears to be a matter of both internal conflicts and commissioned assignments, she says.

One of the suspects is pointed out as the leader of the so-called Dalen network in Stockholm.

My impression is that it is in a leading position and that it is network-based crime.

The man is believed to have led the gang from a distance from Mexico, where he is located with the other man, where they have commissioned various violent crimes. In several cases, those who carried out the crimes have already been convicted in Sweden.

One of the two now detained suspects is suspected of being behind an attack in Södertälje where a hand grenade was thrown into a store. They are also suspected of violent crimes in Norway.

We believe that their role has been that they have wanted to get these violent crimes carried out, that they have used young performers to a great extent and directed them during these crimes, says Ida Arnell.

The men are, as far as she knows, on the loose in Mexico.

We hope that they will be extradited by Mexico, but it is a political issue since there is no extradition agreement with the land, she says.
