The man was extradited to Sweden in October 2025 after being detained in absentia. He was arrested in Iraq in the fall of 2023 and held in custody until extradition.
According to Ida Arnell, there are several charges. Among them are three attempted murders, two preparations for murder, aggravated weapons offenses, aggravated drug offenses, and aggravated instigation of serious public destruction.
There are five indictments in total; crimes in three were allegedly committed in Stockholm and two in Sundsvall.
Several crimes took place in 2023, and the main evidence consists of prosecutors linking the man to an alias on the messaging app Signal. Under that alias, he communicated about the crimes. There are also audio files linked to the defendant.
Most of the crimes are believed to have been committed when the man was abroad.
"We believe that he has been an important person in Foxtrot who has ensured that acts of violence have been able to take place in Sweden," says Niclas Andersson, head of the investigation unit at the police's national operations department, to DN.
The man was part of the leadership of the so-called Bronätverket. The network then allied itself with Foxtrotverket.
The trial begins on May 13.
