The play is being staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon and is a co-production with HBO. According to the BBC, the delays were due to the theatre wanting more time to “develop and refine the production.”
The new play is based on George RR Martin's novels and takes place ten years before the events of the TV series. The script is written by Duncan Macmillan.
The official premiere on August 8 is set.
