Of these, 27 play in the top division, but a full 77 players have club addresses in the second-highest division, according to a list published by the Turkish Football Federation. The players are temporarily suspended while the investigation continues.
Two of them play for the big club Besiktas.
"We have full confidence that both players are innocent," Besiktas writes on X and also announces that the club will take legal action against the country's football association.
In October, it emerged that 152 professional football referees in Turkey were being investigated for betting on football matches over the past five years. Later, 149 referees were suspended.
On Monday, eight people, six of whom were football referees, were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the gambling scandal.
