Gallagher brothers expected in Venice for Oasis documentary premiere

The major American film companies are conspicuous by their absence at this year’s Venice Film Festival - but the stars are there. Most of the attention will likely be on two British musicians: Liam and Noel Gallagher.

The brothers are reportedly coming to the premiere of the documentary "Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger." It was recorded during the band's tour last year and will reportedly feature Liam and Noel Gallagher's first joint interview in many years.

The film was directed by Steven Knight, best known as the creator of "Peaky Blinders" and currently busy thinking about how to make a new James Bond film.

George Clooney and 93-year-old Ellen Burstyn will receive this year's honorary award.

The festival runs from September 2–12 and opens with Danny Boyle's "Ink", which is about how Rupert Murdoch took over the English tabloid market.

Featured guests: George Clooney, Ellen Burstyn, John Malkovich, Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Robert Pattinson, Kiefer Sutherland and sisters Kate and Rooney Mara.

Films in selection: "Bunker" with married couple Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem, the pedophile hunter drama "Primetime" with Robert Pattinson, Danish "Unknown Woman", Russell Crowe's music documentary "What Love Builds", documentaries about Nino Rota and Bernardo Bertolucci, and new films directed by Nanni Moretti and Gianni Amelio.
