Gais has suffered serious injuries to key players such as national team player Gustav Lundgren and midfielder Kevin Holmén. They have lost three straight matches. Gais - a successful team that finished third in last year's Allsvenskan - has not had its momentum at the start of 2026. The third straight loss of the year came in the derby against Häcken.

Super talent Abdoulaye Doumbia made it 1–0 for Häcken with a deft lob.

Gais responded immediately, just five minutes later, through Icelander Róbert Thorkelsson, who scored his first goal for the club.

Häcken had the final say through Gustav Lindgren, who decided the match with just over 10 minutes left.

Häcken is undefeated and is tied for second, two points behind league leader Sirius.
