Midway through the first half, Hammarby defender Ibrahima Fofana tried to pass the ball back to his goalkeeper with the outside of his foot. Rasmus Niklasson Petrovic took advantage, snatched the ball and scored the opening goal.

"I felt he had been a bit careless. So I thought I'd go for every ball and in the end he'd make a bad pass," the goal scorer told TV4 Play.

When the away team looked most likely to equalize, the next blow came for “Bajen.” Hampus Skoglund was involved in a clash of heads with Niklasson Petrovic and received his second yellow card.

Shortly afterwards, Gais striker Samuel Salter extended the lead to 2–0.

The victory moves Gais up to seventh place in the Allsvenskan table. Hammarby remains in second place.
