The big topic of conversation beforehand was clear. How would Arsenal manage without the two important midfielders Declan Rice (suspended) and Martin Ødegaard (injured)?
After 90 minutes, the answer was: Good enough to take home the season's so far heaviest win.
1–0 away against Tottenham.
I'm so happy. It's a tough match and a big derby, says matchwinner Gabriel in Viaplay's broadcast.
Kulusevski with good chance
The first half of the Premier League match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium offered some decent chances for both teams. It got particularly heated after Arsenal's Jurrien Timber tackled Pedro Porro, which created great irritation among players and spectators.
In the 64th minute, the deadlock was finally broken. Arsenal under coach Mikel Arteta are extremely skilled at corners, something that once again proved to be the case. Bukayo Saka lifted in a corner that defender Gabriel Magalhães reached highest on and headed in.
1–0 to Arsenal – a goal that became the only one of the match. Dejan Kulusevski had a good opportunity to equalize, but his shot in stoppage time just went over.
The win means that Arsenal are second in the table, two points behind Manchester City, who have a full score after four rounds.
Bergvall remains on the bench
In the absence of Rice and Ødegaard, Jorginho got the chance to start on Arsenal's midfield. He says he's happy about the win and was ready to take the chance.
We missed important players. But we knew that those who got the chance instead would be ready to help the team. As you could see today, everyone was ready. We're all proud of the team and happy, he says in Viaplay's broadcast.
For Tottenham, Dejan Kulusevski started from the beginning, while Lucas Bergvall remained on the bench for the entire match.
