The Masterton Memorial Trophy is the NHL award given to the player who best represents perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to the game of hockey. The Mark Messier Leadership Award is a leadership award.
Last April, Landeskog made a much-anticipated comeback in Colorado. At the time, the team captain had not played since June 26, 2022, when he lifted the Stanley Cup trophy after leading the team to victory over Tampa Bay in the final.
Landeskog has since undergone several surgeries on his knee and, in between surgeries, has undergone rehabilitation training with the aim of returning to ice hockey.
