On June 26, 2022, when Colorado won the Stanley Cup, Gabriel Landeskog last played an NHL match. Since then, the Swede has been injured and undergone several knee operations.
But now it's close to Landeskog entering the ice again in a Colorado jersey. Just in time for the playoffs.
Prior to tonight's match, the Swede was removed from the list of long-term injured players and is thus available again. Moreover, the audience got a glimpse of their team captain when he warmed up with the team before being scratched from the lineup.
Gabriel wanted to feel the atmosphere and be with the team on the ice, so he participated in the warm-up, says the team's coach Jared Bednar according to Aftonbladet.
And after the match, which Colorado lost 3–4 to Dallas after overtime, Bednar hinted at a possible comeback for the Swede already during the ongoing match series.
He may become relevant later in the series.
Previously, Landeskog has played two matches with the organization's farm team Colorado Eagles in AHL, where he scored a goal and an assist.
