"Fyre fest 2" was supposed to take place in Mexico on May 30-June 2, but has now been cancelled. In an email to those who bought tickets, the organizer writes that the festival has been cancelled and that a new date will be announced later, according to NME.
The first Fyre festival was marketed as a luxury experience on Pablo Escobar's private island in the Bahamas, with bands like Blink 182 and Migos as headliners.
But it ended in chaos for the local workers and fiasco for the influencers who had hoped for a music festival beyond the ordinary. There was nowhere to stay, no food or water, and all artists and bands chose to withdraw.
The festival's founder Billy McFarland was convicted of fraud after the festival and was released from prison in 2022. The events were also depicted in a notable documentary on Netflix.
