The soldiers are said to be part of the US Army's so-called rapid reaction force, which totals 3,000 troops.
It is unclear where in the Middle East the soldiers will be stationed, but they would be within range to attack Iran, according to information from The New York Times .
The purpose is said to be to give President Donald Trump additional room for maneuver in the Iran war.
Meanwhile, Israel and Iran continued to attack each other overnight into Wednesday. Israel launched a "wave of attacks" against Iran just before midnight local time in Sweden. The attacks targeted regime targets in the capital, Tehran, the Israeli military said on Telegram .
Kuwait is also under attack. Earlier in the night, a fire broke out at Kuwait's airport after a drone hit a fuel tank, the country's civil aviation authority said, according to AFP. There are no reports of injuries.
