The Hong Kong-based company said on Saturday that two percent of departures by the parent company and six percent by its budget carrier, HK Express, are canceled from mid-May through the end of June.
As recently as March, the company announced plans to increase passenger capacity on long-haul flights by ten percent.
Lufthansa and SAS are among the airlines that have also canceled flights. A number of other airline giants from the US, Europe and Asia have introduced various fees to offset the losses.
The industry has warned that cost pressures will persist for several months even if Iran reopens the Strait of Hormuz.
