"Tobias will do a routine check of the heart after the World Championship to determine if any action needs to be taken or not. A completely harmless procedure," says Frölunda's doctor Kurt Andersson in a statement on the club's website.
Normann played the past season in 22 regular season games and four playoff games for Frölunda, who were eliminated by the future champion team Luleå in the SM semifinal.
The Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, WPW, affects more men than women and can involve the risk of cardiac arrest and sudden death, according to the Heart-Lung Foundation. Approximately 95 percent can be cured with the ablation treatment method.
On Saturday, Norway meets Kazakhstan in their premiere match in the World Championship's group B in Herning, Denmark.
