"Gurra has tried everything in his power, but it didn't work," Frölunda's sports director Fredrik Sjöström tells the club's website.

In the spring of 2023, Gustav Rydahl played 24 games before undergoing surgery on a back injury in early 2024.

The following season he played only four games - and now the 31-year-old has decided:

"The decision has grown, and lately it has become obvious that it will not work," Gustav Rydahl says.

Rydahl has won two Swedish championship gold medals (Växjö and Färjestad), the Olympics with Tre Kronor in 2022, an NHL contract with the New York Rangers - and over 400 SHL matches in four different clubs.
