In Wednesday's opening match, a repeat of last season's hot quarter-final series awaited, when Frölunda pulled out the win and eliminated Färjestad after 3-2 in games.
Frölunda started the match best, and by the end of the first period the victory was secured after going up 3-0 on the scoreboard.
"We are doing exactly what we said we would do," said goal scorer Ebba Westerlind.
Färjestad cut the deficit in the middle period but never got any closer. Frölunda won 5-2.
"It's always nice to win the first game, especially against Färjestad. There were a few mistakes here and there, but we won," says Andrea Dalen.
