On Instagram, the 32-year-old Manchester United star and her boyfriend Simon Skott posted a picture of themselves holding the ultrasound image of the fetus.
"If all goes well, we will welcome a baby in March," the couple wrote.
In the comments section, congratulations are pouring in from the football world, including from former Barcelona teammate Aitana Bonmati - three-time Ballon d'Or winner - and injured national teammate Kosovare Asllani.
On Manchester United's website, the club writes that Fridolina Rolfö briefed her teammates at the training ground earlier this week. In a video from the occasion, she says, among other things:
It's been hard to lie for so long, in the gym I've lifted like 10 kilos in bench press. I'm super happy and yesterday I was at the hospital and got the very positive news...I'm pregnant! It's absolutely crazy.
Fridolina Rolfö will therefore miss the national team's playoff matches for the World Cup this fall.
Should Sweden reach the World Cup finals in Brazil, time will also be tight to get there. The World Cup will be held June 24-July 25, 2027.
