In recent days, Karlsson has said she has a problem with a heel, which has caused some concerns in previous seasons.
"I can't quite get it right, and we have therefore decided not to stress about the final climb up Alpe Cermis. Especially so close to the Olympics. Now I'm going home, to come back and find some confidence in my feet again," says Frida Karlsson in a statement.
After Saturday's sprint competition, Karlsson said that after the tour she will put her skis aside for a while and devote herself to something like cycling to change movement patterns and strengthen the tendon in her foot again.
"I have had several periods like this, so I know it can be fixed pretty quickly," said Frida Karlsson.
