Frida Karlsson says she has been in bed for three days after missing 5K due to illness

Medal hopeful Frida Karlsson had to throw in the towel the night before the 5K race. Despite feeling feverish for several days, she wanted to make one last attempt and see how she felt, she tells Expressen.

“So I went out for a walk. On a slight incline I needed to take a breather on a park bench. I sat there and realized that a five-kilometre run might be a bit tough,” she says.

Double Olympic gold medalist Frida Karlsson is not the only Swedish star to miss the 5K. Jonna Sundling is also forced to withdraw due to illness.
