France's unemployment rate is rising and is now at its highest level since 2021, new statistics show. In the first quarter, unemployment was 8.1 percent, up from 7.9 percent in the previous quarter.
The unemployment rate for the eurozone's second-largest economy was also unexpectedly high, as markets had expected a decline, the Bloomberg news agency reports.
