Defender Wendie Renard, 34, has played 168 international matches for the French national team, but has missed three of the last four due to injury.

Eugénie Le Sommer, 36, has scored 94 goals in 200 international matches.

National team coach Laruent Bonadei quoted Albert Einstein when he dropped the national team icons ahead of the Nations League matches last time:

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. I want a different result for this team so I have chosen a different squad, said Bonadei according to BBC.

France plays in group D together with England, the Netherlands and Wales in the European Championship which takes place between July 2-27.

England's national team coach Sarina Wiegman has also presented her European Championship squad. In it, Lauren James is included despite the Chelsea striker not having played a match since April due to a thigh injury.
