Politicians have called two emergency meetings on Monday regarding the fires. One at the national level will be led by President Emmanuel Macron, writes Le Figaro.
Continued erratic winds and warmer temperatures of around 35 degrees from Tuesday in southwestern France could fuel the fires raging out of control in Gironde and Landes.
"The fire line is moving all the time. We can't fight it," says a firefighter who likens firefighting to the biblical story of David and Goliath, AFP writes.

On Saturday evening, another 55,000 people were evacuated southeast of Bordeaux. In total, about 220,000 people, including tourists, have been evacuated in France. 240 homes have been destroyed, according to the prefect.
The city's mayor, Thomas Cazenave, said on Sunday that the fire line runs about 15 kilometres from Bordeaux but that the fire is "still on the outskirts of the metropolis" - an evacuation of the big city "is not an option."
“Cloud of Fire” challenges
An unusual weather phenomenon in the Gironde fire has meant that the fire is now “creating its own winds.” Firefighters from across France, the military and farmers are coordinating the firefighting effort.
Around 42,000 hectares have burned in a few days in Gironde - an area equivalent to the entire island of Öland. Dangerous smoke has been measured in large parts of southwestern France, according to health authorities.
Three men were arrested in Gironde on Saturday on suspicion of endangering people, according to prosecutors. Two of them are accused of setting off fireworks.
French police have also been called in to patrol evacuated residential areas.
Spain fires "under control"
Spain's military-led crisis unit said on Sunday afternoon that the fires in Madrid and Ávila are "under control," although they are still active, El País reported.
Firefighters have been battling large fires outside the capital Madrid and in the neighbouring provinces of Ávila and Toledo over the weekend, affecting around 77,000 hectares.
39 towns or villages had been evacuated on Sunday in the three provinces, El País reports.
The fire has also led to a significant deterioration in air quality in the affected areas. Spanish authorities are advising residents who have not been evacuated to stay indoors and wear filtering masks outdoors.
