French GDP growth slightly weaker than expected

France's GDP grew by 1.1 percent in the fourth quarter, according to recent estimates from INSEE, France's statistics agency. That was slightly less than the average forecast of 1.2 percent, according to Bloomberg.

The statistics come ahead of GDP figures from the entire eurozone and Germany later on Friday.

Consumption in France in December fell by 0.6 percent compared with November. This compares with an average forecast of minus 0.4 percent.

At an annual rate, consumption fell 1.0 percent in December, compared with the expected 0.6 percent.
