The family told the AFP news agency that Baye died at her home in Paris after a long illness.
Nathalie Baye began her career in the 1970s and had her big breakthrough in the early 1980s in Jean-Luc Godard's "Now That's Life!".
Over the years, she has been awarded four Césars, France's equivalent of the Oscars.
