Consumer confidence in France has been pushed down to 88 in May, according to a monthly survey conducted by the statistics bureau INSEE. The level is the lowest since December last year and can be compared to 91 in April.
The decline was unexpected. Analysts had counted on an increase to 93, according to a compilation of forecasts made by Bloomberg.
