Sarrazin crashed into the safety net beside the piste and hit his head during training before the World Championship event in Bormio. He was airlifted to hospital and operated on for bleeding near the brain.

It's a small miracle that I've recovered so well and quickly, he says.

Sarrazin continues his rehabilitation at a day hospital in the French alpine town of Gap. He suffers from double vision, but says it's getting better and better.

There's no disappointment in me at all. I've realized that I was very close to death, so whatever happens is positive.

The 30-year-old remembers nothing of the accident.

I have a memory gap from 20 meters before the fall to five days afterwards.
