Strike actions, which begin on Thursday when about a quarter of the departures from Paris airports are cancelled, are stepped up further on Friday when about 40 percent of the flights will be standing, announced the French aviation authority on Wednesday evening, writes Le Monde/AFP.
Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot condemned the air traffic controllers' demands as unacceptable.
The unions are protesting against the authorities' plans to reduce the number of air traffic control services at many airports around the country. They also want higher wages.
