Work following the major cyberattack on the cooling systems at several ICA and Coop stores is continuing.
We are working continuously on the case at the National Cyber Security Center and supporting the affected businesses.
John Billow says the center has been highlighting the need to keep an eye on connected devices for some time. The center has also been conducting a targeted initiative focused on businesses with connected devices.
This is just a reminder of how important it is.
Special focus
A range of businesses have devices that are exposed.
We have seen everything from solar parks to industrial systems and cameras connected to the network.
The National Cyber Security Center has a particular focus on businesses in critical infrastructure.
It is one of our main tasks to focus on this type of business within critical infrastructure and support them with their security work.
Billow says each business should review its security and make sure it is doing what is needed.
If you gain access to the right type of business and the security is not there for some reason, great damage could be done.
Several countries
The attack on the stores’ cooling systems did not affect Sweden alone. Similar reports have come from several countries in Europe.
At my level, I have been in contact with my counterparts in several European countries during Monday, but we also have ongoing operational cooperation with our counterparts in all of these countries, says John Billow.
Who is behind the attack is still unknown.
