The Christmas show "Treat yourself to a merry little Christmas - the story of this year's shopping festival" gets to the bottom of why Christmas has become the world's biggest brand and how we have lost touch with our roots.
Historically, Christmas before Christian times was about honoring dead ancestors who came to visit, about spirits and the supernatural. Today we have just as great a need for the spiritual, but we have made department stores our temples and commerce our religion, says Fredrik Lindström to TT.
Fredrik Lindström wants us to think about why we celebrate Christmas.
We are not so different from our ancestors and we all have a need for faith, even if we do not belong to a religion, says Fredrik Lindström.
The hunger for profit takes on different expressions, and the more goods that are sold, the more are bought, claims Fredrik Lindström.
Just take all these kinds of mulled wine that exist and mulled wine with the "flavor of the year" and so on.
Christmas atmosphere is promised
But the show is not about imposing any answers; everyone is allowed to form their own opinion.
And it's no "Grinch" either.
It will be Christmassy, assures Fredrik Lindström.
Opera singer Maja Frydén and pianist Johan Siberg contribute to this by performing well-known pieces, both classical and pop.
For Fredrik Lindström, Christmas is a time for play, games and socializing.
"I'm not a crafty person, but I always have some decorating project going on and make my own Christmas cards. I feel more interested in the past at Christmas," he says.
The Christmas performance premieres on November 18 at the Scalateatern in Stockholm.
To get into the Christmas spirit, it's important to have order and tidiness. You can't celebrate Christmas if it's messy at home. Do a big clean and make sure all bills are paid in good time for the sake of Christmas peace.
Having a lot of decorations isn't the most important thing. The right lighting, candles and good music go a long way to creating a nice Christmas atmosphere.
For adults, it's important to try to embrace other sides. Let go of the boring bureaucrat and give vent to your inner child for once. Take time to play and play games.
