As one of the USA's closest allies, Denmark is ready to cooperate on the Arctic. This is stated by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) regarding Greenland ahead of today's EU summit.
Denmark has fought side by side with the Americans. Therefore, I do not want to give the impression that we are a bad ally, says the Danish leader in Brussels, according to the news agency Ritzau.
At the meeting, EU heads of state and government are expected to discuss, among other things, the new US President Donald Trump's threatening tone about taking over Greenland.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) is clear that EU countries "stand behind Denmark".
We all who have been asked stand behind Denmark in the very simple sense that we want close cooperation with the USA, but also that it is Denmark and Greenland that make decisions about Denmark and Greenland, says Kristersson on his way into the summit.
