The background is the repeated threats from US President Donald Trump to take control of the island.
In January, a working group was formed with representatives from Denmark, the United States and Greenland to try to find a solution to the conflict. Since then, hardly any information about the negotiations has been released.
The working group continues to work and it is therefore too early to draw any conclusions, but I am quite optimistic that we can find a way forward, says Frederiksen at a meeting in Finland on security in the Arctic on Monday.
According to media reports, the US wants to establish three new military bases in southern Greenland, in addition to the US base that already exists in the north.
