France wants to work with the United States and its allies on a Security Council resolution that guarantees freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, the source said, according to AFP.
In April this year, Russia and China vetoed a draft resolution calling for the Strait of Hormuz to be opened.
The Strait of Hormuz is being blocked by Iran at the same time as the US Navy is blocking Iranian maritime traffic in the area.
