France has been hit by severe thunderstorms during Wednesday and the night to Thursday and two people, a twelve-year-old boy and a man, have lost their lives, according to French media.
According to BFMTV, at least 20 people are being treated in hospital, for four of them the condition is considered critical.
Around 110,000 households in the country are without power on Thursday morning, and in several regions the train traffic is at a standstill due to damage to the railway.
In social media, there are pictures and video clips of flooded roads and subway stations in, among other places, Paris.
More than 40,000 lightning strikes were measured just on Wednesday.
