"After rigorous technical work, the government today announces new proposals to the European Commission," writes President Emmanuel Macron on X.
This is to ensure that the bill is in line with EU legislation.
The announcement comes a month after France's Constitutional Council blocked the previous proposal, citing a "disproportionate restriction" on children's freedom of expression.
Under that proposal, platforms like TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook would verify the age of their users and stop young people under 15 from using their services. The draft also included a mobile phone ban in French schools.
