"The Swedish police's cooperation with Morocco has been successful. An extradition request will be sent to Morocco and then we await the Moroccan processing. Based on experience, it can take a few months," says State Prosecutor Helene Gestrin in a comment.
The police also comment on the arrest.
"It is a strategically important arrest of an individual who has long had a major influence on violence in Sweden," says Police Superintendent Theodor Smedius.
Ali Namdar has been internationally wanted by Interpol and is suspected of several serious crimes in Sweden, including attempted murder. The man is also on Europol's list of wanted persons.
The arrest was carried out in Tangier on Wednesday, writes SVT.
According to SVT, Ali Namdar is suspected of, among other things, violent acts in Borås, Katrineholm and Uddevalla. He is being tried in absentia in a total of five district courts and is suspected of a total of 18 crimes.
In Borås, he is suspected of having instructed a 17-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl to carry out hand grenade attacks in November last year. In Katrineholm, the suspicions also apply to involvement in a planned bombing. The criminal suspicions for that incident include attempted murder, gross public danger and involving a minor in crime.
What the district court has found is that he is suspected on probable grounds of having induced a person under the age of 15 to pick up a hand grenade and throw it at a restaurant in Katrineholm, prosecutor Adolf Moberg Oleszkiewicz tells TT.
The 21-year-old has also been internationally wanted by Norwegian police since last summer, suspected of involvement in several acts of violence, including a grenade attack in September 2025.
Several Swedes have recently been extradited from Morocco on suspicion of serious crime. The extraditions are taking place following a new agreement between Moroccan and Swedish police.
