Four of the victims in the so-called sperm scandal in Halmstad are suing Region Halland, P4 Halland reports.

It concerns two donor children and two men who involuntarily became biological fathers. They have filed a lawsuit with Halmstad District Court demanding damages of SEK 100,000 each.

The region recently refused to pay damages, saying it wanted the matter tried in court.

A few years ago, SVT's "Uppdrag granskning" revealed that sperm from several men had been used for insemination at Halmstad County Hospital during the 1980s and 1990s without consent.

What the men had in common was that they were undergoing fertility treatment - but none of them had agreed to donate sperm.
