Sweden's shock loss to Iceland earlier in the evening ensured the fight for the two semi-final spots from the group became tougher.
Croatia, who finished second in last year's World Cup, wants to be in the running for medals at the European Championship as well. After its victory against Switzerland, the team joins Iceland, Sweden and Slovenia on four points each ahead of the two final rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sweden has the upper hand over both Croatia and Slovenia and is guaranteed to reach the European Championship semi-finals if it wins against both Hungary (Tuesday) and Switzerland (Wednesday).
In order for Croatia to advance to the semi-finals, Sweden or Iceland must lose points.
The table: Iceland 4 points (+8), Sweden 4 points (+4), Slovenia 4 points (+2), Croatia 4 points (–3), Hungary 1 point (–4), Switzerland 1 point (–7).
Remaining matches, Tuesday: Switzerland–Iceland (3:30 p.m.), Slovenia–Croatia (6:00 p.m.), Sweden–Hungary (8:30 p.m.).
Wednesday: Slovenia–Iceland (3:30 p.m.), Croatia–Hungary (6:00 p.m.), Sweden–Switzerland (8:30 p.m.).
The two best teams in the group will advance to the European Championship semi-finals in Herning, Denmark on Friday.
If two or more teams end up on the same points, the results of head-to-head matches will decide.
