The four men went on a theft tour to churches and crematories in Sweden and stole copper for millions. Now they are sentenced to prison and deportation. We have all the time suspected that these four have been involved in fairly extensive thefts, says Daniel Ivansson at the police.

Stolen goods, which have an estimated value of over three million kronor, consist of copper stolen from churches in Kramfors, Uppsala, Mariestad and Strängnäs.

They have systematically searched churches and traveled around and committed these thefts, says Daniel Ivansson, national operational coordinator at the police.

Then you have handed in the stolen goods at recycling centers. How much goods can you accept from private individuals without questioning where it comes from is something we naturally wonder.

The four men, three brothers and one more man, have now received their verdicts. Two of them are sentenced for three cases of gross theft to one year and nine months. The other two are sentenced for two cases of gross theft to one year and six months. All are sentenced to expulsion.

The brothers have admitted to the theft of copper at the Mariakapellet in Kramfors. Otherwise, all those involved deny the other charges.

The crimes were committed between February and March this year.
