Despite the government's goal of increasing private funding for culture, many central museums have difficulty obtaining sponsorship from private funders.
According to a review by Magasin K, the Swedish Museum of Natural History, the Museums of World Culture, ArkDes, and the Museum of Performing Arts all reported zero kronor in direct sponsorship revenue in the past year.
Difficulties finding sponsors, complicated administration and a lack of familiarity in the business community with donating to culture are some of the reasons for the uphill struggle.
In mid-May, a government investigation will present proposals on how non-public funding of the cultural sector can be increased.
