At least eleven civilians were killed and 50 injured in Russian attacks on the Ukrainian city of Dobropillja in the Donetsk region late on Friday, according to Ukraine. Among those killed is a rescue worker.
"Robots, together with Shahed drones, were directed at the central part of the city. Nine residential buildings, a shopping center, and stores were hit", Zelenskyj stated on Saturday evening, adding that it was an attack planned to cause "maximum damage".
It is clear that Russia's war goals remain unchanged, Zelenskyj noted earlier.
"Strengthen air defense"
"Therefore, it is very important to continue doing everything to protect lives, strengthen our air defense, and increase sanctions against Russia", Zelenskyj wrote on Telegram on Saturday, according to AFP.
Three more civilians were killed in a Russian attack on Bohodukhiv near Kharkiv on Friday evening. According to Ukraine's air defense, Russia fired two robots and 145 drones in the attack.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk criticizes the Russian attacks and says they show "what happens when someone appeases barbarians".
"More bombs, more aggression, more victims. Another tragic night in Ukraine", he writes on X.
Russia claims control
In the Russian region of Kursk, which Ukraine has controlled parts of since launching an offensive there in August, Russia's Defense Ministry claims to have retaken three villages from Ukrainian control.
Earlier, several media outlets reported that Ukraine's situation in Kursk has deteriorated in recent days, and Ukraine's responsible for stopping disinformation, Andrij Kovalenko, has admitted that "tough battles" are ongoing.
The Ukrainian forces have retained control over parts of the Russian Kursk region with the hope of being able to exchange the territory in future peace talks.
