At least four people have been killed and eight others injured in an attack on a Mormon church in the state of Michigan in the USA, according to the police. A person started shooting during a church service, and he is suspected of intentionally setting the church on fire, according to American media.

The deed took place during Sunday morning, local time, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, more known as the Mormon church, in Grand Blanc, a few miles north of Detroit.

The suspect, a man in his 40s, was shot to death after he opened fire on the police who arrived at the scene.

The church writes on its website that hundreds of congregation members were on site for worship when the attack took place.

US President Donald Trump calls the attack "terrible" in a post on Truth Social and urges to pray for the victims.
