Four people have been arrested on suspicion of serious bribery in the Stockholm area. The case is linked to the regional traffic administration.

Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL) confirms in a press release that a criminal investigation is underway and that "individual employees in the administration are affected".

Police raided several addresses and searched houses on Tuesday morning. Four people were arrested on suspicion of gross bribery, prosecutors at the National Anti-Corruption Unit confirm to TV4 Nyheterna.

During the day, another person was arrested on suspicion of giving a bribe, while the arrest of one person was lifted, even though the suspicion remains.

"The traffic administration does not comment on ongoing legal proceedings or information about individuals, including the number of employees who may be affected," writes Andreas Strömberg, press manager at the Stockholm Region traffic administration, to TT.

On Wednesday, police secured evidence at the Transport Administration's premises and seized items, according to information provided to several media outlets.

SL has now stopped all financial transactions with companies covered by the investigation but does not want to comment further on the circumstances.

"We have taken organizational measures to ensure control and business continuity. Otherwise, we have nothing further to add at this time," the traffic administration writes.
