The 17-year-old girl reported the abuse herself, but social services decided that she would stay.
Both the school and the child and adolescent psychiatry department raised concerns, believing the decision was inappropriate. A report was also made to the Health and Social Care Inspectorate (Sweden’s health and care regulator).
According to the prosecutor, the abuse took place systematically when the girl was dependent on the man. Her recordings of the abuse are now part of the evidence against him, P4 Västernorrland writes. The broadcaster previously examined the case.
The case has received significant media attention. The girl was also placed against her will in another part of the country. During the summer, she took her own life.
