To increase integration, the Social Democrats, among other things, want to limit the influx of people living on welfare benefits to vulnerable areas.
"After eight years of passivity, the Social Democrats now want to solve segregation by forcibly mixing the population. They want to move people from disadvantaged areas to affluent areas. At the same time, they are making a left turn when they want to make it more profitable to live on benefits and more expensive to work. It won't lift people out of disadvantage or solve segregation," says Forssell in a comment to TT.
Instead, continues Forssell, it is the government's policy of "stricter requirements, lower taxes, and language initiatives" that will lift people and areas out of disadvantage.
Member of Parliament Lawen Redar, responsible for segregation issues at the Social Democratic Congress, responds that Sweden lacks an integration policy.
"I can't draw any other conclusion than that the government seems to be very pleased with the total lack of efforts to strengthen the Swedish language, that more foreign-born are unemployed, and that hundreds of thousands of children live in vulnerable areas in our country."
