Already in the first period, Forsberg struck and equalized to 1–1, after Seattle-Swede Adam Larsson had initiated with the match's first goal.

In the second period – which became a goal fest for Nashville, who pulled away to 4–1 – Forsberg was there again. A pass across the ice, intended for teammate Colton Sissons, instead bounced off a Seattle player's stick into the goal.

Despite goals from both teams in the third period, Seattle never managed to catch up.

It was a goal-rich night for NHL Swedes. Kevin Stenlund broke his goal drought and scored his first goal in 24 matches when his Utah won 4–2 against Detroit. In the same match, Detroit-Swede Jonatan Berggren also scored a goal.

Buffalo defender Rasmus Dahlin equalized to 1–1 against Tampa, in a match that Buffalo ultimately lost 5–6. Mikael Backlund scored a goal for his Calgary, which despite that lost 2–3 to Dallas.
