The competitions were planned for April, but due to the current situation in the Middle East, the decision has now been made not to hold them then.
“Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are incredibly important to our racing season ecosystem, and I look forward to returning to both countries as soon as circumstances allow,” said FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem in a statement.
Sources have previously suggested that the races could be moved earlier, but it remains unclear whether that will be the case. The FIA has not explicitly ruled out postponing the races, according to the AP, but has confirmed that they will not be held in April.
