In March 2025, Kibiwott Kandie was suspended pending an investigation after he was suspected of doping offenses.
The verdict was announced on Thursday. The former world record holder in the half marathon will be banned for seven years.
The Kenyan was convicted of refusing to submit to a doping test and of attempting to manipulate another sample.
"This case is a reminder that no athlete is above the rules in athletics. If an athlete refuses to submit to a test, it is a danger to the integrity of the sport," said Brett Clothier, head of the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), in a press release.
