Angelique Kerber – three-time Grand Slam winner in singles and former world number one – is retiring after the Olympics. The 36-year-old tennis player is ending her career after the games in Paris.

"Even before the Olympics begin, I can say that I will never forget Paris 2024 because this will be my last professional tournament as a tennis player", the German writes on her Instagram.

For Kerber, it will be a tough challenge already in the first round. Then she will face another former world number one, the Japanese star Naomi Osaka.
