Lundberg retired after the Olympics in Italy last winter, where he led Damkronorna to fourth place.

Now the next step in his career is clear. The 46-year-old coach is moving to California and will become the second Swedish coach in the league, after Pernilla Winberg, who is an assistant coach in Boston.

Great fun! An inspiring challenge, Lundberg tells Nya Wermlands-Tidningen.

San Jose's roster currently contains no Swedish players.

Lundberg has previously been head coach of Södertälje's men's team in Hockeyallsvenskan. Before that, he led Sweden's U16 and U17 national teams on the boys' side. The assignment in San Jose is his first club job in women's hockey.
