On Thursday, the Election Commission released results from the March 5 elections. The RSP won 182 of the 275 seats in parliament; the second-place Nepali Congress won 38 seats, and the Maoists won 25.
The election was the first since the deadly anti-corruption protests in September 2025, which led to the government being forced to hand over power.
The demonstrations began as a youth movement against a short-lived ban on social media, but quickly developed into protests against corruption and a weak economy.
